Twenty One has been serving authentic Hungarian and European dishes, made using traditional recipes for over 50 years. We are most famous for our Schnitzels served with creamed spinach. House Favourites
Entrees:
Hungarians love and generally start their meals with a steaming bowl of soup - so it’s no surprise that you’ll find several menu staples as well as daily soup specials on offer.
George’s favourite:
Langos; Hungarian street food at it’s best. Fluffy dough mixed with potato and fried to perfection. Served with sour cream and garlic. Lather it on and enjoy.
Michael’s favourite:
Chicken noodle soup; Food for the soul. A flavoursome broth served with egg noodles, and the option to add chicken and carrot pieces.
Mains:
The Hungarian dishes are generous and homely, such as Paprika Chicken slow cooked and tender, served with homemade nokedli (a gnocchi-like egg noodle) or a classic Schnitzel served with creamed spinach and thin, crispy fries. Those after something lighter will also find a delicious range of salads or a perfectly cooked fillet of Salmon on a bed of Mashed Peas.
George’s favourite:
Cabbage rolls; Delicious savoury mince wrapped in blanched cabbage leaves, served with sour cream and mashed potato. A hearty, satisfying meal.
Michael’s favourite:
The Wiener (Veal) Schnitzel with creamed spinach and fluffy mashed potato is comfort food at it’s best. A side of cucumber salad is the perfect, zingy accompaniment.
Desserts:
There are many, many options for dessert as Hungarians are well known for their love of cakes, pastries and crepes. Go traditional with a freshly baked strudel or the rum spiked chestnut puree - for something lighter try the fluffy chocolate mousse.
George’s favourite:
The Pishinger Torte. Layers of wafer and hazelnut chocolate make this a grown up take on a Kit Kat.
Michael’s favourite:
The Nutella crepe with strawberries and a double serve of ice cream. Not just for kids, but also the kids at heart.
